Chutney is an integral part of a desi dining table, let it be a barbeque party, your simple daal chawal or your evening snacks, your plate wouldn’t be complete without a dose of some hot and spicy homemade dip. Here are three simple and easy chutney recipes for you to try at home.
This chutney contains the tanginess of raw mangoes, when mixed with the freshness of mint leaves it becomes such a treat for desi taste buds. Tastes best when served with evening snacks.
Raw mangoes – 2 small size (peeled and cut in cubes)
Fresh mint leaves – 1 bowl
Green chilies – 5 (roughly chopped)
Red chili powder – ½ tsp
Roasted cumin seeds – 1 tbsp
Blend everything together until smooth. Can be refrigerated for 4-5 days in an airtight jar.
Trust me on this one; you need to have this chutney ready in your fridge all 365 days of the year. The combination of coriander, mint and green chilies can never go wrong. Use it as a dip for your pakodas, add flavour to your daal chawal with it or have this alone with your parathas, you name it. Insanely easy to make and amazingly rich in flavours, here is the recipe for green chutney:
Fresh coriander leaves – ½ bowl
Fresh mint leave – ½ bowl
Green chilies – 8-10 (roughly chopped)
Tamarind pulp – ½ cup
Salt – 1 tsp
Cumin seeds – 1 tbsp (heaped)
Blend everything together into a smooth paste by adding little water. Refrigerate and use as per requirement.
Red tamarind chutney
This is for all those who love their chatts more than anything else. Red tamarind chutney is made with a balanced combination of sweet and sour ingredients that give your taste buds a tangy punch when you first taste it and then you gradually feel its sweetness. Perfect to be served with channa chaat and dahi badas. Also an amazing dip for fried chicken, you can also make this chutney in winters and serve it with your fried fish.
Jaggery – ½ cup (grated)
Roasted cumin seeds – 1 tsp (crushed)
Green chilies – 2-3 (crushed)
Fresh mint leaves – ½ cup
Salt – 1 tsp
1- Add tamarind pulp, grated jaggery and 1 cup water in a pan and bring it to a boil.
3- Once cooled, pour it in your blender, add rest of the ingredients and blend until everything gets mixed well.
