With so many Pakistani dramas on air, finding one that will keep you waiting desperately for the next episode is quite a challenge. Here at Blush, we make things easier by reviewing the hottest and most watched dramas of the season so that you can just sit back and watch the best television has to offer!
The drama that has been selected for review today is ARY’s Kabhi Kabhi. It is directed by Anjum Shahzad (of Khuda Aur Mohabbat and Mirat-ul- Uroos fame) and written by the very talented Samira Fazal (who also wrote hit dramas such as Mera Naseeb, Mera Saaein, Bari Apa etc).
The cast of this project consists of big names such as Ehsan Khan, Mehwish Hayat, Javed Sheikh, Bushra Ansari, Sana Askari, Faris Shafi, Aly Khan and Nosheen Shah. Therefore, you can expect to be hooked right from the first episode.
Kabhi Kabhi is a story about a rich yet down-to-earth girl Eeshal (played by Mehwish Hayat) whose manipulating father (Javed Sheikh) intends to marry her off to a business man, Shahveer (played by Aly Khan). Eeshal does not agree to this at all but her father still plans to persuade her. In all this, Eeshal keeps bumping into Aaraiz who is a middle-class yet hardworking guy with a family to support. He works for Shahveer and as Eeshal helps to refurbish Shaveer’s office, these two come closer until eventually love begins to blossom.
The main plot then begins to unfolds as Eeshal and Araiz get married even though both their families only agree because they have their own selfish reasons behind their acceptance. Adjusting to a new environment, coupled with bad treatment at the hands of her scheming in-laws, will Eeshal be able to cope or will all this make her regret her marriage to Aaraiz? How will Aaraiz and Eeshal manage to live happily with those they consider their own trying to cause problems in their lives? This are the burning questions that will be answered as the story progresses.
Kabhi Kabhi might seem to some as a drama with overused themes such as social class difference, family, love, marriage and life after marriage with the in-laws. However, the way these common issues have been presented is what makes this drama worth watching. Not to mention, the direction and acting is top-notch most of the time. Each actor is perfect for their assigned character, you easily grow to love Eeshal and hate her malicious sister-in-law Soni.
Kabhi Kabhi airs every Friday night at 8pm only on ARY Digital. So do you watch this drama? If no, then definitely give it a try, it might surprise you!
