Spending time in the kitchen together can be a very exciting experience for you and your children. Make your little ones a part of your kitchen activities, encouraging them to participate in preparing foods that are easy and fun to work on at the same time. It will not only be a way for you to spend more time with your kids but will also give you the chance to teach them the importance of teamwork and sharing responsibility.
‘I don’t like delicious cupcakes’ – said no kid ever! Baking cupcakes is an excellent idea if you want your kids to be a part of your cooking endeavors. You can bake yummy and delicious cupcakes from scratch with this amazingly easy recipe.
INGREDIENTS (FOR AROUND 12 CUPCAKES)
Castor sugar – 10 tbsp (heaped)
Baking powder – 1 tbsp (leveled)
Unsalted butter – 3/4th cup (softened)
Vanilla extract – 1 tsp
Oil – 2 tbsp
Milk – 1/4th cup
Eggs – 2
EQUIPMENT YOU WILL NEED
A hand or electric mixture
1 large bowl
1- Start the procedure by creaming softened butter and sugar together. Add oil and mix well.
2- Add vanilla extract, eggs and baking powder one by one into the creamed butter and sugar mixture one at a time and keep mixing with the help of an electric or hand mixer. You can get your kids involved by making one of them incorporate the ingredients and telling the other to do the mixing. Remember, the main purpose of this activity is to teach your kids the importance of teamwork and mutual cooperation.
3- Once all the wet ingredients are combined, keep the mixture aside. With the help of a plastic or silicone spatula, add flour in the mixture 1 tbsp at a time and stir well.
4- Once the flour is well-combined with the other ingredients, add milk and mix well again. Make sure, however, that you do not over-mix the batter.
6- Ask your kids to line the muffin tray. Let them make the choice of color for the cupcake liners. Make them fill the liners with the batter but be careful that they are not overfilled.
7- Place muffin tray in the oven for 20-25 minutes. To see if the cupcakes are done, insert a toothpick in the center of one of the cupcakes. If it comes out clean, your cupcakes are ready!
Making these cupcakes is, as they say, a piece of cake! They will turn out to be perfectly soft and moist, and your kids are going to love them. You can top them up with your favorite frosting or just serve them plain. Do not forget to save some for your kids’ lunchboxes so that they can wow their friends with their creativity.
Kids can also enjoy unique and refreshing Pakistani drinks during the summer.
Note: All the measurements are given in tablespoons and cups to make it easy for kids to measure the ingredients by themselves for delicious cupcakes. Make sure that your little chefs wear aprons so that their clothes do not get stained while cooking.
