Beauty & Style
We love Mahira Khan, not only because she is drop-dead gorgeous and a genuine sweetheart, but also because she is the epitome of style and grace. The woman is nothing short of a style icon and just never fails to impress us with her impeccably put-together wardrobe. Its riveting how her sartorial choices have somewhat of a cult following – what she wears on screen one day, inevitably becomes the fashion must-have in metro cities the very next day. From the traditional saris, uber-chic suits and irresistibly trendy accessories, Khan is easily the only person sitting atop the fashion throne.
The actor’s traditional chiffon kameezes with long dupattas in Humsafar and incredibly sexy on-trend outfits in Sheher-e-zaat left us wanting more with each passing episode. And then came the chat show, TUC The Lighter Side of Life – exactly what we needed to satisfy our Mahira Khan style appetite. Soon, we found ourselves experiencing an irrevocable obsession with our beloved girl next door.
The chat show, however, didn’t last for too many episodes and here we were feeling deprived of Mahira’s immaculate sense of style and then came Hasan Sheheryar Yasin’s chat show Tonite with HSY as a breath of fresh air. The Pakistani beauty left us in awe when she effortlessly pulled off a gorgeous husk sari from her best friend Feeha Jamshed’s collection. The sari was the perfect blend of eastern and western, made up of the most unconventionally stunning colour combination. We are not too big on animal prints, seen enough of owls and elephants in the last two seasons and now they are just simply done with, but Khan pulled off the husk sari absolutely incredibly – her fashion followers are sure to grow by leaps and bounds after getting a glimpse of this spectacular look. Her sleek straight centre-parted hair were the epitome of chic and her statement bracelet is just what was needed to add the extra zing to the look – a classic case to prove how important accessories are to complete an ensemble.
There is a lot that one can learn from Khan – not only does her style prove that a person’s body language is pivotal for the outfit to look good, but also that trying too hard is never advisable if you wish to make a strong fashion statement. Keep it simple, be easy-going, experiment with different pieces of clothing and just be yourself if you wish to be high on the fashion radar.
