Sara Hassan! The paradigm of beauty blogging in Pakistan.

Sara Hassan is unknown to none. We have read her! We have followed her! and We have loved her! She is a well-known beauty blogging personality at I have been following your blog for around a year now and have loved every post you do. Tell me and the readers a bit about yourself.

Sara Hassan: To begin with, I am a Media student doing my post graduation in Advertising. I am also a lecturer and I do freelance work as well. I have three most amazing sisters MashAllah and I am the eldest among them. In my free time, I love watching movies and American Television. I enjoy video gaming a lot. I am a sucker for Pakistani cuisine especially chicken karahis, haleem and biryani. I love wearing heels everyday be it shopping, going to university or work – you will never find me without it. Why did you decide to start your blog and what do you think is the best thing about it?

Sara Hassan: Three years back while I was interning, my friend and I accidently came across a makeup blog that had brilliant eye makeup ideas and it inspired me a lot. I was never into makeup – I didn’t know the ABCs of makeup till I was 21. All of a sudden I felt this uncontrollable urge for learning makeup. The beauty blogging came afterwards when my sister and I had to suffer through countless disappointments regarding beauty products. In that time, I was also perfecting my makeup skills and that’s when I seriously decided to start blogging with an intention to help Pakistani women through my writing. My sister Masooma plays a very huge part in my success and also, I would have never come this far without my dad’s support.

My blog is purely Pakistani and I think that’s the best thing about it. We have some great international beauty blogs out there but there are many factors (skin tone, weather, prices, and availability) that do not match our environment and that gets very frustrating for a common woman. I think women of Pakistan can relate to me. Being an average woman myself, I think people find my word believable and easy to comprehend. are very well recognized internationally. How does it feel to know you are one of the Pakistan’s top makeup and beauty blogger?

Sara Hassan: I feel very proud Alhamdulillah. Most of all, I feel extremely honored to represent Pakistan and its culture internationally. All of this has happened because of the immense and undying support of my readers from not only Pakistan but also around the globe. It’s almost unbelievable to tell you the truth. I never imagined I would go this far. Can you mention any three cons of beauty blogging?

Sara Hassan: Beauty blogging is an addiction. Once you get into it, it eats up all your time and before you know it, your hobby turns into some sort of obsession which wouldn’t be so bad till you begin skipping on all other activities that you used to do before. It becomes very annoying for friends and family sometimes. The second con would be the bombardment of unlimited emails every day. As much as I enjoy responding to all my emails, sometimes it gets very tiring repeating the same thing again and again. Lastly, I am never left with spare money. I spend all my cash on trying new stuff which I wouldn’t do normally but because of my blog and tons of requests that I get, I have to.  Tell me and the readers a bit about yourself. Describe your style in three words.

Sara Hassan: Effervescent, classy and chic. Where are your favorite places to shop in Pakistan?

Sara Hassan: I love Agha’s supermarket for beauty shopping. For clothes, I usually go to Gulf way and Ashiana shopping mall. My favorite jewelry store is Saffron located in Ashiana mall and The Forum. Zamzama is my favorite place for shoe and bag shopping. I also enjoy online shopping. What are any three “Holy Grail” skin care and beauty products that you couldn’t live without?

Sara Hassan:  Benefit The Porefessional, a black gel eyeliner and F80 makeup brush by Sigma. When reviewing a product, what are the main things you like to focus on?

Sara Hassan: Availability is the foremost thing I focus on. There’s really no point of reviewing a product that my readers can’t reach. Secondly, the safety of the product; is it safe for use? Who can use it, who can’t, stuff like that. I try my best to capture true-to-life swatches because that helps a lot in deciding if something would suit you or not. What is in your bag right now?

Sara HassanSoap and Glory Hand Food, NYX Matte lipstick in “Sierra”, a small mirror and a couple of pens and papers. What four skin care or beauty steps do you religiously take time for?

Sara Hassan: Cleansing, Exfoliating, Toning and Moisturizing. Name a dessert, a color, a drink?

Sara Hassan: Ice cream, Black, Lemonade. What advice would you give to other bloggers? N how they can do beauty blogging?

Sara Hassan: My advice; be dedicated and honest. Don’t shy away from helping others through your knowledge and understanding. Most of all, don’t let anyone get in the way of your happiness and success. Many a times, you will face harsh criticism; learn and improve rather going all defensive about it. Be responsible and never cease to learn more. How much potential do you think does a Pakistani woman has to make Pakistan successful?

Sara Hassan: A lot of potential I believe. We have a great deal of talent here. All we need is to highlight that talent on national and international level and we could go places.
