Ingredients For lemon chili chicken
Chicken (boneless) – 500 gm
Curd – ½ cup
Cream – ¼ cup
Lemon juice – 2 tbsp
Garlic paste – ½ tsp
Ginger paste – ½ tsp
Butter – 2 tbsp
Onion (chopped) – 2 (small)
Salt – According to taste
Black pepper (freshly crushed) – 1 tsp
Plain flour – 1 tbsp (leveled)
Roasted cumin (crushed) – 1 tsp
Green chilies – 7-8
Lemon slices (for garnish)
Ginger (thinly sliced, for garnish)
1- Take a wok and add butter into it, keep the heat to medium else the butter will catch fire. Add chopped onions in butter and cook for 30 seconds, keep in mind that you only have to make onion tender, don’t let it change its colour to golden or brown.
2- Add ginger and garlic paste to the wok and stir all the ingredients together for few seconds. Now comes the high flame cooking; add the chicken and cook it at high heat. When chicken is cooked on a high flame, it will lock its moisture in it and will stay tender and juicy.
3- Now, with he help of your ladle make space in the middle of your wok where all your butter is and add flour. Mix flour well with butter and chicken; it will make the texture of curry very smooth and creamy.
4- Once your chicken changes its colour to white, it’s time to spice up the game and add seasonings. Throw in some salt, black pepper, roasted cumin seeds, lemon juice and cook for few minutes.
5- Beat the curd well enough to get rid of all lumps and add it to your seasoned chicken. Let the chicken cook in curd, don’t add any water.
6- Slice your green chilies thinly and remove their seeds, add them to your chicken.
7- Lastly add cream in your chicken when it’s cooked completely and turn off the heat.
8- Dish out and garnish it with ginger, chilies and lemon slices.
Serve with garlic naan . If garlic naan is not available you can take your regular naan, brush some garlic butter on it and bake it for 5 minutes wrapped in an aluminum foil.
1- Heat your wok before adding butter to it.
2- Since it’s high flame cooking mainly so make sure you keep all your ingredients ready before you start cooking.
3- Avoid overcooking your ingredients. If onions are overcooked their flavour becomes too strong and in this dish we are trying to keep it’s flavour mild.
4- Turn heat right after adding the cream else it will loose it’s texture.
5- Go easy while adding lemon juice; excess of it makes your dish bitter.
With this easy and handy recipe, you can cook lemon chili chicken in an hour and everyone in your family will love the unique taste experience of lemon chili chicken.
